Founder of the Heritage Trophy event André Verster has a passion for 4x4 overlanding; admires the South African Heritage with its unique cultures; has a fascination for conservation of wildlife, fauna and flora; has special dedication to UNESCO World Heritage Sites in South Africa; and adores his professional hobby of off-road guiding. His vision for the Heritage Trophy is for it to become a prestige event to showcase the unique South African heritage and to offer extraordinary adventures and experiences to local and foreign guests. The routes covered in the Heritage Trophy events will be offered as future adventures to raise sponsorship and funds focusing on conservation of wildlife, including fauna and flora.

André has been qualified as a tour guide since 2009, guiding off-road safaris, 4x4 overlanding expeditions and events ever since. He recently updated his tour-guide qualification with new regulations, including first-aid level 3.
